monk mendel
wow alliteration..
here's the story...
there was hook, who saw his sperm under a microscope (he discovered microscopy, and decided to call it an animolecule. so he was in the group whose members were SPERMIS-they believed that the sperm was the one that dictated inheritance.then there was the other group, the oocytes-tish (forgot the terminology)who believed that it was the oocyte that was solely responsible for inheritance, since they observed the oocytes and realised that when the sperm reached the oocyte, it was the oocytes that developed and divided and borne the baby. then there were the philosophers, and being philosophers they believed in looking at the origins of things and thus traced stuff all the way back to greek ancient times, and they decided that inheritance was due to BLENDING, ie the product of gametes genotypes of phenotypes was a results of blending of both maternal and paternal traits.
monk mendel debunked these three schools of thoughts.
and did you know that our mitochindrial DNA is exactly the same as our mum's mitochondrial DNA?
and i see the true wonders of God's creation even in the pisum sativum, that it's cabbage-like fluoresce led to the establishment of many findings by mendel, and thus our understanding of genetics.
and im interested in the book "the seven daughters of eve", by skyes. anyone who sees it please tell me!(:
basically it's about how this scientist (the author) mapped out the pedigree of dunnoe how many thousands(?) of european women and found out that their mitochondrial DNA can be traced to only 7 lineages. cool.
ok enough goodbye
